ACEworks (Abilities, Challenges, Exceptionalities) is an exceptional day support program for individuals over the age of 18 with moderate to severe developmental delays, mild to moderate behavioural issues and individuals who would be considered medically fragile or physically disabled. Our program consists of recreational, educational and social components (ACEworks) and a work based component, Treats ‘n Treasures. Currently we serve 48 clients between two programs. ACEworks focuses on physical activity, crafts, educational, sensory activities and life skills. We also have a wonderful music therapy program under the direction of Nigel Harris of ‘Musical Wellness’. ACEworks clients participate in swimming at Jack Purcell pool on a bi-weekly basis. Budgeting, meal planning and preparation are a structured part of weekly programming. Our facility boasts a theatre with a 10ft screen, a snoozlen room, shredding room, lounge, full sized changing room and separate classrooms for each activity. Clients participate in bi-monthly excursions. Treats ‘n Treasures is a work experience program supports 8 high functioning individuals. “TNT” as it is known, is a storefront setting that strives to teach customer service skills, money handling, product knowledge and various life skills. The participants engage in jewellery making, store inventory, sales and product development.
